Applies to: the SmartTrim iOS mobile application (the “App”) and the public website smarttrimapp.com (the “Website”).
SmartTrim App. ("SmartTrim", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection laws, including the EU/UK GDPR.

2. What data we collect
We design SmartTrim to minimise personal data. The App processes many readings on‑device and does not require an account.
2.1 Data from the App
Device motion & orientation (e.g., accelerometer, gyroscope, gravity vectors) — used to compute pitch/roll/impact forces.
Speed and heading (from system APIs and/or GPS if you enable it).
Trip records (start/stop time, duration, distance, speed metrics, comfort/efficiency scores) saved locally on your device unless you export/share them.
Diagnostics & crash data (optional) — if you opt in to share analytics or TestFlight diagnostics, Apple and/or our crash reporting provider may collect device type, OS version, app version, and crash logs. We do not receive your device’s advertising identifier.
We do not access your camera, photos, contacts, microphone or health data.
2.2 Data from the Website
Technical data (IP address, browser type, device/OS, pages visited, time on page) via standard server logs.
Cookies strictly necessary for site operation; analytics cookies only if you consent (see §10).
Contact data (name, email, message) if you email us or submit a form.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process your data for:
App functionality (compute trim guidance, show trip stats). Legal basis: performance of contract or legitimate interests (providing core app features).
Diagnostics and crash reports to improve stability and safety. Legal basis: legitimate interests and/or consent(where required).
Customer support and communications when you contact us. Legal basis: legitimate interests and/or performance of contract.
Website security and fraud prevention (maintaining logs, detecting abuse). Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Legal compliance (tax, accounting, regulatory). Legal basis: legal obligation.
We do not use your data for behavioural advertising or sell your data.
4. Where data is stored
On‑device: App motion/speed readings and trip records are stored locally on your device. You may delete them at any time from within the App or by deleting the App.
Our systems: If you contact us or subscribe to notifications, your contact details are stored in our support mailbox or email service provider.
App stores / Apple TestFlight: Apple may process diagnostics you choose to share with developers.
5. Sharing with third parties
We share data only with:
Service providers (processors) who host email or support tools, under contracts that protect your data.
Platform providers (Apple/Google) for distribution, payments, and diagnostics.
Authorities when required by law, to protect rights or prevent abuse.
We do not sell or rent your data.
6. International transfers
If we transfer personal data outside the EEA/UK, we will use lawful mechanisms (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK Addendum). Details are available on request.
7. Data retention
App data on your device: kept until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Support emails / contact records: typically kept for up to 24 months after last interaction, unless a longer period is required by law.
Server logs: typically retained for 30–180 days for security and troubleshooting.
8. Your rights
Subject to conditions and exceptions under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, portability, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing before withdrawal). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Ireland, this is the Data Protection Commission(www.dataprotection.ie).

9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Cookies and similar technologies (Website)
Strictly necessary cookies: required for site operation; set by default and do not require consent.
Analytics cookies (optional): used to understand usage and improve the site. We will request your consent via a banner before setting these. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
A detailed cookie list will be provided in our Cookie Notice if/when analytics are enabled.
11. Children
The App and Website are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us to delete it.
12. Links to other sites
Our Website may link to third‑party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you (e.g., by site notice or in‑app). The “Last updated” date shows when it was last revised.
