After years of boating and developing various technology, we saw a simple truth:
many boats are not well trimmed and even experienced skippers rely on instinct where science could do better.
So we built SmartTrim — the first intelligent trimming app that understands your boat, adapts to your hull type, and gives you real-time guidance for optimal performance.

Technical Backbone
The Science Behind SmartTrim
1. Trim angle directly controls how much of the hull touches the water.
More hull in the water = more friction = more fuel burned.
Less hull in the water = lower resistance and faster acceleration.
SmartTrim constantly evaluates how your boat is riding and guides you to the point where resistance is lowest for your speed and hull type.
2. Bow attitude determines when the boat actually gets on plane.
Planing is a lift problem: the hull must generate enough upward force to carry its own weight.
If the bow rises too much, the stern drags.
If the bow drops too much, the hull plows instead of lifting.
SmartTrim keeps the bow in the narrow band where lift increases and drag drops.
3. Stable pitch and roll reduce energy losses and improve comfort.
Every unnecessary motion—bow bounce, side-to-side roll, oscillation—costs power.
These motions force the propeller and hull to constantly work against changing angles and loads.
SmartTrim filters noise, stabilises the readings, and helps you hold the hull
at the angle where the boat moves cleanly through the water.
4. Proper trim keeps the thrust line aligned with the hull’s resistance.
When the engine pushes in the wrong direction—too far up or down—part of the thrust is wasted.
Correct trim means more of the engine’s power actually moves the boat forward instead of lifting the stern or forcing the bow down.
That is what improves speed per litre.
